Hello!
I'm Rebecca. I come from South Gloucestershire, but I've been living in Ynysybwl for about 13 years now. I've been working with dogs in the local area since 2020, and have worked with hundreds of local dogs! I'm a fully qualified and IMDT accredited dog trainer, focussing on welfare and understanding why a behaviour is happening rather than robot-like obedience. I provide one to one dog training services, group puppy classes, and dog walking too. Many of my dog walking clients have been with me since day one!
One to One dog training begins with a consultation. I usually do these over a video call to reduce stress on your dog, but they can also be face to face. This involves gathering lots of information about your dog, their routines and your lifestyle in order to create a big picture which helps with understanding dog behaviour. The consultation includes some recommendations and a follow up report by email. Training sessions continue on from those recommendations, and can happen out on a walk, in public places or in your home, depending on your dog's needs.
Studies show that good puppy socialisation has a huge positive impact on the future of dogs, and well managed puppy classes can help! The days of chaotic puppy parties are long gone. My puppy classes focus on creating puppies that feel confident, safe and connected to you. Calmness around other dogs and people helps reduce anxiety and reactivity before it can start. While your puppy will learn lots of useful real-life skills, like loose lead walking, recall and the first basic cues, the focus isn't on obedience but on engagement. Classes are limited to just 4 puppies, and take place in The Vision Hut, Ynysybwl.
The next block of 5 classes begins on June 15th (Monday evenings) and 19th June (Friday evenings), and is almost completely full! Contact me for more information and to reserve your space!
I also provide dog walking services Monday to Friday in Ynysybwl only. My walks are all solo walks or groups from the same household. While most dog walkers focus on pack walks, they aren't the right fit for many dogs or clients. My walks also start and begin at your home, making them ideal for dogs that struggle with travelling in a vehicle. Every walk is carefully planned with the individual dog in mind, providing not just exercise but enrichment too. Your dog's breed specific needs as well as their individual preferences are considered and provided for.
Spaces are very limited and tend to book up months in advance, so contact me as early as possible if you require a dog walker soon!
